World Air Games
2009 Selection Contest
CIAM WAG Official Entry Form
F6D Rules
The Torrey Pines Gulls is honored to have been awarded a
sanction to conduct a United States National 2009 World Air
Games Selection contest. This contest, which will be held
June 6th (Friday, the day before the IHLGF) at the Torrey
Pines Gulls Poway Flight Center, will go toward determining
the two (2) pilots that will be invited to represent the
North American Continent at the FAI World Air Games 2009
which will be held in Turin, Italy, June 7-13, 2009.
The World Air Games can be clearly defined as One week – Ten
Sports – Unlimited Adrenaline! The World Air Games is the
biggest gathering of air sports in the world and during one
week brings together, in one location, World Champions and
other top competitors in ten different air sport disciplines
from more than twenty nations.
One of the disciplines that will be featured at the World
Air Games 2009 will be Hand Thrown Gliders or, as we know
them, Hand Launched Gliders. For complete details on the HTG
event, including rules and tasks go to:
http://www.worldairgames.org/2009/sports-athletes/aeromodelling
There are only two tasks: “Last Flight” and “All-Up”. There
will be a minimum of two qualifying rounds; one for each
task. The top scorers (up to 24) from qualifying rounds will
then go into a semi-final round. From this point forward,
the task is “All-Up” with the first pilot down receiving a
zero. There will be three launches with a three minute max.
The top eight pilots will then go into the finals. Each
launch in the finals reduces the field by one until there
are only two. One last launch will determine this events
Champion. Plaques will be awarded to the top three pilots.
The final scores will be submitted to FAI/CIAM and, in their
infinite wisdom, they will decide who and how many pilots
from the USA will be invited. We just put on the contest.
They do the inviting!
The USA World Air Games 2009 Selection Contest pilots
meeting will begin at 2:30 P.M. and the first flight group
will launch at 3:00 P.M. There will be no entry fee;
however, you must register for the event using the official
FAI/CIAM World Air Games Registration Form. This form can be
found by clicking on “CIAM WAG Official Entry Form” located
at the top of this page.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to your
participation in this event. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact me or go to the USA FAI World
Air Games 2009 Selection Contest blog on R/CGroups at:

PLEASE NOTE: This contest has nothing to do with the USA F3K
World Championship Team Selection, which has yet to be
established.
