Encinitas Flight Center
The Encinitas Flight Center is a private field that is the home to our club's F3L Thermal Duration Contests as well as general TD fun flying in North County. There is plenty of room on this field for multiple bungee hi-starts or winches for launching and landing strips for competition. Wind is usually out of the west. You are also welcome to hand launch your DLGs. No electric-powered sailplanes are allowed at this location.

This field is the site of the old Encinitas city landfill. Access is limited to our club and the County, so most of the time it is completely open for flying with some restrictions that club members must follow to maintain our flying privileges. TPG members will receive a key which opens the two locked gates. The field has plenty of parking, a picnic table, and a porta-potty.
The Encinitas Flight Center is approved as an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA) with the following dimensions pictured below. RC gliders within the FRIA do not need to be equipped with remote ID. Given the requirements that this is a motorless area, quadcopters are specifically not allowed to operate at this location.

2099 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas, CA 92024
Access is through two separate, locked gates. The key issued with your membership card will
unlock the gates. If the first gate is locked when you arrive at the field, you must secure the gate
behind you once you enter. If it is unlocked, leave the gate the way you found it, as most likely someone from the County or one of their contractors is at the site. The second gate may be left unlocked while you are at the field. Once again if you find it unlocked, leave it as you found it. Continue driving on the road to the top of the hill, which is the location of our parking area and field. Parking is only allowed on the gravel parking pad or next to our storage trailer.
The lower gate is located on Encinitas Blvd.

The upper gate is located further up the road.

Please park in the designated parking area behind the fence. Do not drive onto the field.
